Chevy & ice 3in02

Cubans are crazy for ice cream... the perfect remedy on a hot summer day. Before the Revolution, Cuba relied on its northern neighbor for much of its helado supply, and Howard Johnson’s 28 flavors was the brand of choice. Fidel, however, vowed to outdo the Yanks, and came up with tropical fruit flavors that Howard Johnson’s had never heard of. These days only one or two flavors are usually available but Cuban ice creams still taste good, as this old timer in ViZales, in Pinar del Río province, seems to agree. In the background, a 1950 Chevrolet Styline Bel-Air.
